About the farm

The farm is a half-acre property in the region of Neauphlette, consisting of three historic farm buildings and a private pond. It is abundant with flora and fauna, including a frog choir in the pond, pheasants and other fowl, and the occasional deer.

The grandfather of my late sister’s godfather purchased the farm in the 1920s. His grandchild, Guy, (my sister’s godfather) who is now 93 and lives nearby, grew up on the farm. At the time, the farmhouse had an earthen floor and it was heated using a wood stove, there was an outhouse, and no running water. Originally it was a working farm, engaged in growing cereals, raising animals and making grappa from the fruit of its orchard.

We have started a multiyear renovation project that will preserve the farm’s rustic charm and tranquillity. For example, while the renovation maintains the tradition of the historic French stone architecture, modern comforts such as indoor plumbing and electricity have been installed.

About me

I am Clemence, a Frenchwoman dedicating myself to the “zero kilometre” movement of sustainable living. I grew up nearby and then pursued a career in international business in Italy for many years.

In 2015 I bought the farm and have been restoring the buildings, maintaining the gardens, and creating a natural paradise according to my values of local and sustainable living. I speak English, French, and Italian.
